Search engines and online shopping do not go very well together. Try searching for Halloween pencils or candies or any other products that would make good Halloween gifts through search engines; you’ll see millions of results, but you’ll just end up getting fooled into clicking virtually useless sites.

Certainly, there are online shopping sites where your search is much more likely to be fruitful. However, these sites are no more than paid directories. They will display the stores selling products that will make ideal gifts for kids, mums, wives, husbands, grandparents, etc, but they have limited results. They display only stores that have paid for getting listed on the site.

For this reason, I prefer to start any of my online shopping sprees through ShopWiki. Here, the search results will display all – and I mean ALL – stores online that sell the specific product that you are looking for. If you are looking for a Nintendo Wii or an iPod Touch, simply type in your search words to bring up a list of all the stores online that sell this product. If you are looking for gifts – say a wedding, Hanukkah or Christmas gifts –simply click on the appropriate gift buying guide and you’ll get wonderful gift suggestions and a list of stores that sell them.

Whenever someone talks about designing their homes, most people immediately zoom in on furniture, wallpaper, paints, color schemes, and furnishings. Any talented home and garden designer will tell you, however, that lighting (Chandeliers, pendant lighting, landscape lighting systems, etc) is one of the most important elements of designing your home’s interior and exterior. Naturally, you should be sure to pick the right type of lighting fixture when designing your home. You can’t very wall put in Tiffany Table Lamps outside your home. Outdoor lighting fixtures are different from indoor lighting fixtures. Likewise, you can’t very well put in an overblown chandelier inside your bathroom. So your credit got burned. That’s bad, I know, but you’re not alone. I should say welcome to the club, actually, since more and more people seem to be suffering from bad credit ratings.

Don’t feel too bad if you have bad credit. Not only are you part of a crowd (so to speak), it is also within your means to improve your own credit score. Bad credit repair is definitely possible. People have done it. There are laws that ensure it (see the credit reporting act, formally known as the Fair Credit Reporting Act).

So, how do we recover from bad credit? The first step, of course, is to find the means to build up your credit. After the tempest has passed, find a bank and start saving money in a savings or checking account. Start small, but make regular deposits.

Then, apply for one of the so-called recovery card (credit cards with very low limits), or better yet, a secured credit card (credit cards where you required to make an initial deposit as security). Just remember, do not apply for more than one card. Apply for one where you have the greatest chance of getting approved. Do not take out more than one card, too. If you want to reestablish your credit, you need to moderate your spending; having multiple cards won’t help.

Of course you have to pay all your bills on time. You also need to check your credit report regularly to check for credit report errors. The sooner you can catch reporting errors, the sooner you can get them resolved.
